Easter gives us an encouraging new perception of Jesus.

RESURRECTED JESUS

Easter gives us an encouraging new perception of Jesus.

1. Jesus is POWERFUL

(Matthew 28:1-7) After the Sabbath, as the first day of the week was dawning, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to view the tomb. Suddenly there was a violent earthquake, because an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and approached the tomb. He rolled back the stone and was sitting on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his robe was as white as snow. The guards were so shaken from fear of Him that they became like dead men. But the angel told the women, “Don’t be afraid, because I know you are looking for Jesus who was crucified. He is not here! For He has been resurrected, just as He said. Come and see the place where He lay. Then go quickly and tell His disciples, He has been raised from the dead.”

A. The power to be raised from the dead.
B. The power to move the stone aside.
C. The power over everything in life.

(18) “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.”
(18) “All POWER has been given to Me in heaven and in earth” (KJV).

2. Jesus is CHEERFUL

(8-9) So, departing quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, they ran to tell His disciples the news. Just then Jesus met them and said, “GOOD MORNING!”

(Hebrews 12:1-2) Lay aside every weight and the sin that so easily ensnares us, and run with endurance the race that lies before us, keeping our eyes on Jesus, the source and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that lay before Him endured a cross and despised the shame and sat down at the right hand of God’s throne.

3. Jesus is MERCIFUL

A. We all deserve Christ’s vengeance.

(10) Then Jesus told them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell My BROTHERS to leave for Galilee, and they will see Me there.”

B. He considers us His siblings!

(Hebrews 2:11) The One who sanctifies and those who are sanctified all have one Father. That is why He is not ashamed to call them BROTHERS.

(Proverb 18:24) A man with many friends may be harmed, but there is a friend who stays CLOSER THAN A BROTHER.
