Praising and Praying Across America
POWER

We who follow Christ have an unimaginable power available to us.

(John 14:7-14) “If you know Me, you will also know My Father. From now on you do know Him and have seen Him.” “Lord,” said Philip, “show us the Father, and that’s enough for us.” Jesus said to him, “Have I been among you all this time without your knowing Me, Philip? The one who has seen Me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? Don’t you believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me? The words I speak to you I do not speak on My own. The Father who lives in Me does His works. Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me. Otherwise, believe because of the works themselves. I assure you: The one who believes in Me will also do the works that I do. And he will do even greater works than these, because I am going to the Father. Whatever you ask in My name, I will do it so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it.”

1. Power Comes from SEEING Jesus

(7b-9) From now on you do know Him and have SEEN Him.” “Lord,” said Philip, “SHOW us the Father, and that’s enough for us.” Jesus said to him, “Have I been among you all this time without your knowing Me, Philip? The one who has SEEN Me has SEEN the Father. How can you say, ‘SHOW us the Father’?”
A. Jesus is the Son of God.
(Matthew 16:14-16) And they said, “Some say John the Baptist; others, Elijah; still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” “But you”, He asked them, “who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God!”
B. Jesus is the Savior of God.
(John 14:6) “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
(Acts 4:12) “There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to people by which we must be saved.”
C. Jesus is the SAME as God.
(John 1:1) In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word WAS God.
(John 10:30) “The Father and I are ONE.”
(John 14:9) “The one who has seen Me has seen the Father.”
(John 20:28) “My Lord and my God.”

2. Power Comes from KNOWING Jesus
(9) “Have I been among you all this time without your knowing Me, Philip?”
A. “To Know from personal experience.”
B. To know what the individual is thinking and feeling.

3. Power Comes from ASKING Jesus
(12) “I assure you: The one who believes in Me will also do the works that I do. And he will do even greater works than these, because I am going to the Father.”
(Luke 19:10) “The Son of Man has come to seek and to save the lost.”
A. If we ask, Jesus will give us power to witness
B. If we ask anything of Jesus “in His name” He will do it.
