Jesus gives us an outline around which to build our daily prayer time.

PRAYER

Jesus gives us an outline around which to build our daily prayer time.

(Matthew 6:6) “When you pray, go into your private room, shut your door, and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.”

P. R. A. Y. E. R.

1. “P” is for PRAISE (9)

(6:9) “Therefore, you should pray like this: Our Father in heaven, Your name be honored as holy.”

2. “R” is for REIGN (10)

(6:10) “Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”

A. God is our DADDY.

B. God is the KING.

3. “A” is for ASK (11)

(6:11) “Give us today our daily bread.”

A. God’s interest is in providing “needs”, not “greeds”.

B. He’s our father the king of the world.

C. We should not be bashful about asking.

4. “Y” is for YIELD (12)

(6:12) “Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors…”

A. Bitterness poisons our soul.

B. Yield all bitterness to God.

5. “E” is for ESCAPE (13a)

(13a) “Do not bring us into temptation…”

A. Ask God to help us escape temptation.

(1 Corinthians 10:13) No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to humanity… but with the temptation He will also provide a way of escape…

B. Satan is eager to tempt us if necessary.

C. We are tempted by our own evil desires.

(James 1:14) Each person is tempted when he is drawn away and enticed by his own evil desires.

6. “R” is for RESIST (13b)

(13b)” Deliver us from the evil one..”.

(Luke 22:31) “Simon, Simon, look out! Satan has asked to sift you like wheat.

(James 4:7) Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
