TRUE CHANGE

Some things change, while other things never change.

9:15 – All attend bible studies

10:45 – Choice between two music services

11:20 – All together for worship

(James 1:16-17, NIV) Don’t be deceived, my dear brothers and sisters. Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.

1. God’s Consistency

A. God never changes.

B. He’s already perfect.

(17, NIV) [God] does not change like shifting shadows.

(Hebrews 13:8, NIV) Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

C. God never changes to fit the culture –

The culture must change to fit God.

2. God’s Compassion

(17, NIV) Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of heavenly lights.

A. God has ALL POWER to do all good.

B. God is the ONLY SOURCE of all good.

(17, NIV) EVERY good and perfect gift is from above.

C. ALL GOD DOES is good.

3. Our Confusion

(16, NIV) Don’t be deceived, my dear brothers and sisters.

A. Scripture is still dependable.

(2 Timothy 3:16) All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness.

B. Attendance is still critical.

(Hebrews 10:24-25) Let us be concerned about one another in order to promote love and good works, not staying away from our meetings, as some habitually do, but encouraging each other.

C. Unity is still essential.

(1 Corinthians 12:12, HCSB) For as the body is one and has many parts, and all the parts of that body, though many, are one body – so also is Christ.

(John 13:34, HCSB) “I give you a new commandment: love one another. Just as I have loved you, you must also love one another.”
