TRUE FATHERHOOD

Our true God makes true fatherhood possible.

(Genesis 48:15-16) Then he [Jacob] blessed Joseph and said: “The God before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac walked, the God who has been my shepherd all my life to this day, the Angel who has redeemed me from all harm – may He bless these boys. And may they be called by my name and the names of my fathers Abraham and Isaac, and may they grow to be numerous within the land.

  1. True Fatherhood Trusts God
  2. True fatherhood does not require us to be perfect.
  3. True fatherhood does require us to trust God.

(Hebrews 11:8) BY FAITH Abraham, when he was called, obeyed…

(Hebrews 11:9) BY FAITH [Abraham] stayed…

(Hebrews 11:17) BY FAITH Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac.

(Galatians 3:9) Abraham, WHO HAD FAITH…

(Romans 4:16) Those who are of ABRAHAM’S FAITH…

(John 14:6) “I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

  1. True Fatherhood Follows God

(15) The God who has been my Shepherd all my life to this day.

  1. Jacob had followed God
  2. His son watched him doing that.

  1. True Fatherhood Blesses His Children
  2. Bless them just because they’re yours and you love them.
  3. Withhold your blessing from them and they will be stifled.
  4. Bestow it on them and they will blossom.

  1. True Fatherhood Is Blessed BY His Children

(50:1, NIV) Joseph threw himself upon his father and wept over him and kissed him.
