We are called to recognize humanity’s universal need for Christ, uphold personal responsibility for sin, and proclaim the gospel with clarity and compassion.
A New Way To Be Human – Week 8
Central theme
Sin is universal, inherited, and deeply corrupting, while God remains both just in judgment and good in salvation.
Who is a sinner
Scripture teaches that every human being is a sinner and that no one is righteous in themselves.
Sin is not limited to certain people or groups but applies to all humanity.
When humans become sinners
Humanity becomes sinful from conception because sin entered the world through Adam and spread to all people.
Humans are born with a sin nature that inevitably leads to sinful actions.
How deeply sin affects humanity
Sin affects the whole person—heart, mind, will, and body—not just outward behavior.
Because of this, people need transformation, not mere moral improvement.
What humans are accountable for
Each person is accountable before God for their own sins, not for the sins of others or for guilt by association.
God judges sinners according to their deeds, demonstrating perfect justice.
Hope and resolution
God’s justice and goodness meet at the cross, where Jesus bears the judgment sinners deserve.
Through Christ, a “new way to be human” is made possible, marked by forgiveness and new life.
