SALT
Jesus wants us to stand up for, and speak out for Biblical morality.
(Matthew 5:13) “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt should lose its taste, how can it be made salty? It’s no longer good for anything but to be thrown out and trampled on by men.”
1. SALT Defined
A. In Jesus’ day salt prevented food from spoiling.
B. Jesus wants us to prevent culture from spoiling.
2. SALT Persecuted
(5:1) When He saw the crowds, He went up on the mountain, and after He sat down, His disciples came to Him. Then He began to teach them .
A. Culture isn’t going to like you being salty.
B. You’ll be persecuted for being holy (10).
C. You’ll be persecuted for obeying Jesus (11).
D. You’ll be persecuted for being like the prophets (12).
3. SALT Forfeited
A. Salt forfeits its saltiness when it gets diluted.
B. Churches forfeit their saltiness when they get diluted.
C. Christians forfeit their saltiness when they get diluted.
