Better Together: “Our Fullness”

02-19-2017 • Daniel McGinty

There is nothing more satisfying than the saturation of the Holy Spirit.

“Our Fullness”

There is nothing more satisfying than the saturation of the Holy Spirit

What does it look like to be FULL of the Spirit?

Stephen’s Hypothesis : The Jews’ rejection of Jesus was part of a pattern and evidence of Jesus’ heavenly position.

To be Full of the Spirit means to be full of his influence.

Is your soul Saturated with the living water?

Acts 7:51-53

51 “You stiff-necked people with uncircumcised hearts and ears! You are always resisting the Holy Spirit; as your ancestors did, so do you. 52 Which of the prophets did your fathers not persecute? They even killed those who announced beforehand the coming of the Righteous One, whose betrayers and murderers you have now become. 53 You received the law under the direction of angels and yet have not kept it.”

1) Full of boldness

a) The Holy Spirit gives us the clarity and confidence to speak truth.

b) Witnessing is not a gift, it’s a lifestyle. We talk about what we care about.

c) The opposite of boldness is fear, and fear builds walls, where Boldness opens doors.

Acts 7:54-58a

54 When they heard these things, they were enraged in their hearts [ a ] and gnashed their teeth at him. 55 But Stephen, filled by the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven. He saw God’s glory, with [ b ] Jesus standing at the right hand of God, and he said, 56 “Look! I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God!”

57 Then they screamed at the top of their voices, covered their ears, and together rushed against him. 58 They threw him out of the city and began to stone him. And the witnesses laid their robes at the feet of a young man named Saul.

2) Fully Willing to die for Jesus

a) If you are not willing to die for Jesus, then you haven’t trusted him with your life.

b) Annual Martyrs globally: 1,200 (open Doors)-100,000 (Vatican)

c) Dying to “self” is the everyday application of a willing attitude.

Acts 7:59-60

59 They were stoning Stephen as he called out: “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit!” 60 Then he knelt down and cried out with a loud voice, “Lord, do not charge them with this sin!” And saying this, he fell asleep.

3) Full of Forgiveness

a) It is a supernatural choice when we forgive those we should hate.

How CAN I be full of the Spirit?

We must do something that will allow the Spirit to occupy that space.

Cure the disease, not the symptoms.
