Life is really all about the cross and resurrection of Jesus.
(Luke 19:29-40) As He approached Bethphage and Bethany, at the place called the Mount of Olives, He sent two of the disciples and said, “Go into the village ahead of you. As you enter it, you will find a young donkey tied there, on which no one has ever sat. Untie it and bring it here. If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you untying it?’ say this: ‘The Lord needs it.’” So those who were sent left and found it just as He had told them. As they were untying the young donkey, its owners said to them, “Why are you untying the donkey?” “The Lord needs it,” they said. Then they brought it to Jesus, and after throwing their robes on the donkey, they helped Jesus get on it. As He was going along, they were spreading their robes on the road. Now He came near the path down the Mount of Olives, and the whole crowd of the disciples began to praise God joyfully with a loud voice for all the miracles they had seen: “Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord. Peace in heaven and glory in the highest heaven!” Some of the Pharisees from the crowd told Him, “Teacher, rebuke Your disciples.” He answered, “I tell you, if they were to keep silent, the stones would cry out!”
1. Life Distracts Us
A. The Coronavirus is distracting our attention off Jesus.
(Matthew 14:26-31) When the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost!” they said, and cried out in fear. Immediately Jesus spoke to them, “Have courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.” “Lord, if it’s You,” Peter answered Him, “command me to come to You on the water.” “Come!” He said. And climbing out of the boat, Peter started walking on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the strength of the wind, he was afraid. And beginning to sink he cried out, “Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus reached out His hand, caught hold of him, and said to him, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?” When they got into the boat, the wind ceased. Then those in the boat worshiped Him and said, “Truly You are the Son of God!”
B. We cannot get so distracted that we take our attention off Christ.
• Stop binge watching the news
• Stop worrying about the virus.
(Psalm 34:4) I sought the Lord, and He answered me and delivered me from all my fears.
(Psalm 94:19) When I am filled with cares, Your comfort brings me joy.
(Luke 12:22) “Don’t worry about your life, what you will eat; or about the body, what you will wear.”
2. Christ Deserves It
A. Jesus is eternal.
(John 1:1) IN THE BEGINNING was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God…
B. Jesus is Creator.
(John 1:3) All things were CREATED THROUGH HIM, and apart from Him not one thing was created…
C. Jesus is omnipotent.
(Revelation 1:8) “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the One who is, who was, and who is coming, the ALMIGHTY.”
D. Jesus is omniscient.
(John 16:30) “We know that You KNOW EVERYTHING and don’t need anyone to question You.”
E. Jesus is omnipresent.
(Matthew 18:20) “Where two or three are gathered together in My name I AM THERE AMONG THEM.”
F. Jesus is Messiah.
(Luke 2:11) “Today a Savior, who is MESSIAH the Lord, was born for you in the city of David.”
G. Jesus is God’s Lamb.
(Ephesians 1:7) In (Jesus) we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses.
(Luke 19:40) “I tell you, if they were to keep silent, the stones would cry out!”
3. We Depend On It
A. Our mental health and well-being depend on praising Jesus.
B. There’s something very calming about praising Jesus.
