Background & Context: Acts 6:1-15
Sermon Passage: Acts 7:1-53
THINK
Main Point of the Text: Far from blaspheming Moses and God, Stephen understands that the God of Glory is not bound to the temple or by the law; He is faithful to His promises and fulfills the temple and the law in Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. The issue is the continued rejection of God and His appointed and anointed Servant by Stephen’s contemporaries.
APPLY
We must Own the reality of rejection so that we are not discouraged, manipulated, or misled but are faithful to proclaim the truth fully and faithfully.
- How does the rejection so many display toward Jesus cause you to be discouraged or question the Truth?
- Does owning the reality that people will reject Jesus, even with perfect evidence, help encourage you to remain faithful?
- What is the hardest part of addressing those who are hostile to the Gospel with gentleness and respect?
- Mediate on 1 Peter 3:13-16
PRAY
- Pray and praise God for who He is: the Sovereign Master of all creation and time.
- Pray for God to take note of our present situation.

- Where do feel nervous about being Christ’s witness? Are you doubting His promise? How can you better focus and trust Jesus at His word as His witness?

- Where and to whom has God called you to minister? Are you being faithful to do so?
- Is God opening doors for you to witness to the person and work of Jesus? How can you better step into those moments and proclaim the Truth?

THINK
As Jesus continues to carry out His mission by the Holy Spirit through His local church, the Apostles are careful to make sure the ministry of prayer, and the ministry of the Word are not neglected while also ensuring that the needs within the body do not fall between the cracks but are properly cared for. In doing this, they both guard the unity of the church and further enable the witness of the church.

- Disunity driven by unbiblical dividing lines

- Being men and women of character (full of the Spirit) and competence (full of wisdom)
- Responding to ministry needs with Biblically driven, prayed-through solutions
- Engaging in ministry as a congregation and not just as individuals
- Staying focused on the assignment – the mission and the ministry of Jesus

- Such obedience is identified with Christ in daily life:

- Who has God placed before you to be faithful ministering to?
