Uncertainty Pt. 1

04-22-2026 • Chris Gary

Take one small step this week to trust God instead of relying on yourself.

Facing the Daily Grind of Uncertainty

  • Life often brings ongoing uncertainty that wears people down over time.
  • People want clarity about their next step but often cannot see it.
  • Scripture speaks directly into seasons of stress, grief, and confusion.
  • Psalm 23 is a key passage that addresses these uncertain moments.

The Shepherd and the Sheep

  • The image of sheep and shepherd shows the relationship between people and God.
  • Sheep lack direction and often wander without realizing it.
  • It is easy to drift away while focusing only on what is right in front of us.
  • God does not move away, but people often move away from Him.

Our Need for Protection, Cleansing, and Guidance

  • Sheep are defenseless and rely fully on the shepherd for protection.
  • Believers depend on God’s strength rather than their own ability.
  • Sheep cannot clean themselves, just as people cannot remove their own sin.
  • Forgiveness and cleansing come through Jesus alone.
  • Sheep cannot find food or water on their own and must be led.
  • God provides spiritual nourishment through His Word.

Learning to Depend on the Shepherd

  • People often rush to God but do not stay long enough to receive what they need.
  • Everything belongs to God, including the lives people think they control.
  • Trusting God means following His direction instead of relying on self.
  • Uncertainty reveals where dependence is placed.
  • Scripture and community help keep believers close to the shepherd.

Resting in God’s Presence During Uncertainty

  • God’s presence brings comfort even when circumstances are unclear.
  • There is no need to fear because God is near and actively caring for His people.
  • The noise of the world can distract from hearing God’s voice.
  • Turning to God first changes how uncertainty is handled.
  • Trust grows through small, daily steps of obedience.
