It’s important to keep Christ at the center of our lives.
(Colossians 1:15-20) He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation; because by Him everything was created in heaven and on earth, the visible and the invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities – all things have been created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and by Him all things hold together. He is also the head of the body, the church; He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that He might come to have first place in everything. For God was pleased to have all His fullness dwell in Him, and through Him to reconcile everything to Himself by making peace through the blood of His cross – whether things on earth or things in heaven.
1. Jesus is the LIFE Maker
A. Jesus is God – wearing skin.
(15a) He is the image of the invisible God…
B. Jesus is the original life.
(15b) …the firstborn over all creation;
C. Jesus is the definition of life.
(John 1:4) In Him was life.
(John 14:6) “I am… life.”
D. To Jesus all lives are precious.
(John 3:16, KJV) “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, so that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
2. Jesus is the WORLD Maker
A. Culture does not believe Jesus to be the maker of the world.
B. Christ followers are being swayed to embrace the religion of evolution.
(16-17) By Him everything was created, in heaven and on earth, the visible and the invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities – all things have been created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and by Him all things hold together.
3. Jesus is the CHURCH Maker
(18) He is also the head of the body, the church; He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that He might come to have first place in everything.
A. Something supernatural is going on.
B. Jesus is pulling together His church.
4. Jesus is The PEACE Maker
(19-20) For God was pleased to have all His fullness dwell in Him, and through Him to reconcile everything to Himself by making peace through the blood of His cross – whether things on earth or things in heaven.
A. Our problem: We are separated from God by our sins.
B. God’s desire: Peace between Him and us.
C. The price: The blood of Christ shed on the cross.
D. The way: Accepting Christ as Lord.
We should strive to be an example of what it means to be a Christ follower.
