05-12-2019 • Dr. Steve Washburn

No matter how big our failures, Jesus will restore us.

THE RESTORATION

No matter how big our failures, Jesus will restore us.

(Luke 24:33-34) That very hour they got up and returned to Jerusalem. They found the eleven and those with them gathered together, who said, “The Lord has certainly been raised, and has appeared to Simon!”
(1 Corinthians 15:3-5) I passed on to you as most important what I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that He appeared to Cephas…

1. The Big Failure

(Matthew 26:33-35) Peter told Him, “Even if everyone runs away because of You, I will never run away!” “I assure you,” Jesus said to him, “tonight – before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times!” “Even if I have to die with You,” Peter told Him, “I will never deny You!”

A. His failure was undeniable.
B. His failure was public.
C. His failure wounded someone else.
D. His failure caused a deep sense of guilt.

2. The Big Forgiver

A. Jesus forgave Peter.

(1 John 1:9) If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from ALL unrighteousness.
