WHO’S IN CHARGE HERE?

Romans 8:18-39
In the midst of the COVID-19 virus, God is in total control.

1. Why is God Allowing This?
   A. We live in a broken world.

(Romans 8:20) For the creation was subjected to futility – not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it…

(Genesis 3:17) “The ground is cursed because of you. You will eat from it by means of painful labor all the days of your life.”
   B. This world was broken by sin.
   C. Christ followers will be delivered.

2. What Good Can Come From This?

(Romans 8:28) We know that all things work together for the GOOD of those who love God: those who are called according to His purpose.

   A. Some will turn to Christ, trust and follow Him.

(Romans 8:29) …conformed to the image of His Son…

   B. Those of us who follow the Lord will grow to resemble Him more.

3. What Can We Expect From God?

   A. We can expect God’s absolute, and unconditional love.

(Romans 8:37-39) In all these things we are more than victorious through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing will have the power to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord!

   B. We can count on God to lead us through the difficulties of life.

(Psalm 91) He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in Him will I trust. Surely He shall deliver thee from the snare of the flowler, and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with His feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: His truth shall be thy shield and buckler. Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday. A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked. Because thou hast made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; there shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. For He shall give His angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone. Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet. Because He hath set His love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honor him. With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.
