We must understand competing worldviews so we can clearly affirm biblical truth and lovingly engage those who hold different beliefs.
Overview
This lesson begins a new section focused on understanding competing worldviews and evaluating them through Scripture.
The study introduces Marxism as a worldview and examines how its foundational beliefs differ from the biblical worldview.
What Is a Worldview
A worldview is the framework of beliefs that shapes how a person understands reality and lives accordingly.
A true worldview must answer three core questions: where we came from, what went wrong, and how the problem is fixed.
The biblical worldview also answers a fourth question: where history is ultimately headed.
The Biblical Worldview
God created all things intentionally and uniquely.
Humanity was created in God’s image.
Sin brought brokenness into creation.
Restoration is accomplished through Jesus Christ alone.
History is moving toward redemption for those in Christ and justice for those outside of Him.
The Marxist Worldview
Marxism is a relatively modern worldview that emerged in the mid-1800s.
It teaches that physical matter is all that exists and denies the supernatural.
It rejects the existence of God and views religion as harmful.
Religion is seen as an obstacle to social change and revolutionary progress.
Humanity is understood as material only, without a soul or eternal purpose.
Core Philosophical Differences
Marxism is rooted in materialism, which teaches that only the physical world is real.
It views history as an ongoing conflict between opposing forces that produces societal change.
Conflict is considered necessary for progress.
Christianity teaches that reality includes both the visible and invisible realms created by God.
Scripture affirms that truth, meaning, morality, and human value flow from God’s character.
Why This Matters
Worldviews shape ethics, morality, justice, and human value.
Ideas about God and reality directly influence how societies function.
These opposing foundations reveal a fundamental clash between Marxism and Christianity.
Understanding worldview differences equips believers to engage culture wisely and faithfully.
Application
Believers are called to understand competing worldviews in order to hold firmly to biblical truth and speak with clarity, conviction, and compassion.

We must stand firm in the authority of Scripture and resist reshaping truth to fit cultural pressures.
We must hold fast to the true gospel and the full authority of Scripture so that modern pressure does not pull the church away from Christ.
Genesis 3
We must live as faithful citizens who honor authority, pursue justice, and trust the gospel to transform hearts.
We must work faithfully, live as a real church family, and trust God to use our everyday lives for His glory in a broken world.
We must live out God’s design with conviction and compassion, trusting the gospel to bring real hope in a broken society.
We must remain faithful to Christ by staying grounded in truth, engaged with wisdom, and hopeful in the power of the gospel.
