Worldview Rumble: Jesus vs. Marx Pt. 7

02-25-2026 • Wes Wilkinson

We must live out God’s design with conviction and compassion, trusting the gospel to bring real hope in a broken society.

The Cultural Moment and Human Happiness

  • Recent stories about doctor-assisted death in Canada show how suffering and despair are increasingly framed as medical and moral issues.

  • Expanding access to assisted death, including discussions about minors, reveals how quickly cultural definitions of compassion can change.

  • These examples expose a worldview that treats personal happiness and relief from suffering as the highest moral goods.

Secular Morality Versus Biblical Morality

  • Secular humanism still speaks in terms of right and wrong, but it lacks an absolute foundation for moral truth.

  • Biblical ethics teaches that moral right and wrong are absolute because they reflect the unchanging character of God.

  • What is labeled as “progress” often involves rejecting older, biblically grounded moral boundaries.

How Society Is Being Reshaped

  • Humanism and Marxism view society itself as the problem rather than the human heart.

  • People are treated as morally neutral or naturally good, while institutions are blamed for corruption.

  • Education, entertainment, law, and government function together as tools to reshape cultural values over time.

Creation and Human Identity (Genesis 1–2)

  • Scripture begins with God as Creator, which directly challenges atheistic assumptions.

  • Humanity is created in the image of God, giving every person inherent dignity and worth.

  • Humanity is created as male and female, showing that sex is designed by God and not constructed by society.

  • Marriage is established as a covenant union between a man and a woman, forming the foundation of family life.

The Family in God’s Design

  • The family is created and blessed by God as the basic building block of society.

  • Cultural approval and temporary happiness are not the same as God’s blessing.

  • Single people are not lesser families, and the church is called to disciple both singles and households.

Family Order and the Role of the Church

  • Scripture presents an ordered structure in family life that promotes flourishing.

  • Husbands and wives are equal in dignity and salvation, while serving different roles within God’s design.

  • The church is responsible for passing down godly living and faith across generations.

The Root of Societal Brokenness (Romans 1)

  • Societal breakdown flows from broken individuals, not the other way around.

  • People suppress truth that God has made evident through creation and conscience.

  • When God is rejected, thinking becomes darkened and worship shifts from Creator to creation.

  • Moral collapse is the result of being handed over to the consequences of suppressed truth.

Hope, Mission, and Faithful Presence

  • The biblical worldview is realistic about human sin but hopeful about God’s redemptive work.

  • Faithful Christians have historically pursued gospel proclamation alongside meaningful social good.

  • Believers are called to resist despair and live as salt and light in a confused world.
