Worldview Rumble: The Crescent & Cross Pt. 3

05-20-2026 • Wes Wilkinson

We can rest fully in Christ’s finished work instead of trusting our own efforts.

Creation, Design, and the Nature of Humanity

  • Islam and Christianity both teach that creation has a beginning and a creator.
  • Both reject the idea that creation itself is divine.
  • Creation displays order and design that point to a creator.
  • Christianity teaches that mankind uniquely bears the image of God.
  • Islam teaches that humans are created by Allah but do not reflect his image.

The Human Condition and What Went Wrong

  • Christianity teaches that mankind is fallen and broken by sin.
  • Islam teaches that people are born pure and naturally submitted to Allah.
  • Adam’s sin is viewed in Islam as a temporary mistake rather than a fallen condition passed down.
  • Christianity sees sin as deeply affecting every part of human nature.
  • A different view of human nature leads to a different understanding of salvation.

Works, Salvation, and the Gospel

  • Islam teaches that people must work toward salvation through faith and obedience.
  • Good deeds are weighed against bad deeds on the day of judgment.
  • Christianity teaches that salvation comes by grace through faith in Christ.
  • Good works flow from salvation rather than earning it.
  • Jesus accomplished what sinful humanity could never accomplish on its own.

Men, Women, and the Family

  • Islam and Christianity both affirm that men and women are created by God.
  • Scripture teaches that men and women equally bear God’s image and share equal worth before Him.
  • Biblical roles in marriage are tied to design and sacrificial love, not superiority.
  • Islamic teaching allows practices like polygamy and gives men greater authority and rights.
  • The biblical model of marriage centers on covenant faithfulness between one man and one woman.

The Beauty of the Gospel and Christian Identity

  • Christianity teaches that believers are welcomed as sons and daughters of God.
  • Salvation is rooted in Christ’s finished work instead of human effort.
  • Fear does not define the believer’s relationship with God.
  • The gospel produces assurance, transformation, and love for God.
  • The contrast between the biblical worldview and Islam becomes clearest in the person and work of Jesus.
