We must pursue God’s glory over personal happiness, and stay grounded in Scripture so we can live with courage, compassion, and clarity in a shifting culture.
Worldview and Society
Worldview beliefs shape how societies function. Sociology closely connects with law, government, economics, and history because society is built by people and institutions.
Sin must be called what Scripture calls it, while remembering that the gospel offers hope, grace, and restoration for sinners.
Biblical View of Society
Scripture teaches that God created humans for community and established marriage and family as foundational to society (Genesis 1–2).
Society is broken because people are broken by sin, not because God’s design is flawed.
Secular View of Society
Secular sociology often treats society as a human construct shaped mainly by social forces rather than divine design.
It often assumes people are naturally good and become harmful primarily because of broken institutions.
Personal autonomy and happiness are commonly treated as the highest moral goals.
Cultural Change and Institutions
Traditional institutions such as family, church, and government are often viewed as barriers that must be redefined or replaced.
Cultural change is often pursued intentionally through education, entertainment, activism, and eventually legal change.
Biblical Response
The church responds with confidence because Christ has already overcome the world.
The purpose of life is the glory of God, lived out by loving God fully and loving others faithfully.
The church must be equipped in both heart and mind to remain faithful in a changing culture.
Application
Choose obedience to Christ over personal happiness and allow Scripture to shape how you think and live.
